Editor,The Third Annual Rwanda Night that took place last weekend at Oklahoma Christian University in the United States was great. Students under the Rwandan Presidential Scholars programme organised and showcased the Rwandan Culture and tradition to fellow students and friends of Rwanda.
The event was characterised by traditional dances, Rwandan poetry and worship songs. The success of the event was measured by not only the large audience in attendance, but also the interest generated about Rwanda. Dr. Don Drew, Dean of the Graduate school at the University remarked after the show, "Never have I seen students portray their culture so accurately and profoundly as these students have tonight. It was a great show and I think it sets the standard to look out for.” The 1,000 capacity auditorium was nearly full, as many in the school’s community came to witness the Rwandan Culture.
Traditional dancers made up the highlight of the night, as ladies danced splendidly and the young man portrayed the warrior dance to fellow students. The crowd cheered and exclaimed their enthusiasm for the dance, impressed by its elegance. "The Rwanda Night has occurred twice before, but year after year, people come out to see our traditional dance, they absolutely love it.Tony Kajangwe, At Oklahoma Christian university
