Ugandan legislators have recommended for the sacking of two of the country's cabinet ministers and the bank chief over abuse of office.

The lawmakers seating on the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) want ministers, Apollo Kiddu Makubuya, minister of general duties Office of the Prime Minister, Syda Bbumba, minister of gender, labor and social development and Bank of Uganda governor, Emmanuel Tumusiime fired over controversial compensation payments to two city businessmen over market ownership cancellation in the capital Kampala.

The legislators in their 65 page report presented to Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga late on Thursday want the two ministers and the governor be relieved of their duties for their roles in the curious payments of over 157 billion shillings (over 65.4 million U.S. dollars) to Hassan Basajjabalaba and John Mugyenyi. In the report, the lawmakers want Makubuya and Bbumba to take responsibility for irregularly awarding up to 142.6 billion shillings (59.4 million dollars) as compensation to Basajjabalaba. The money followed cancellation of Basajjabalaba's contract to manage Kampala city markets in 2005.
