The upcoming celebrations to mark International Women’s Day will focus on enabling women and young girls to uphold their families, according to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, Julienne Munyaneza.She told Sunday Times yesterday that this year’s celebrations would be held at the village level.Women’s Day is observed globally every year on March 8 to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women’s past, present and future."The day will mark the beginning of Rwandan women and girls’ month which will run from March 8 to April 5,” she said.Munyaneza stated that each week during the month, several activities will to be carried out nationwide focusing on fighting malnutrition, promoting economic empowerment of women, promotion of girls’ education and good governance."We are calling for the participation of all relevant institutions, local government, civil society, private sector and the general public to be part of our campaign,” she said.
