Joint efforts will help curb drugs

It’s unfortunate that Africa is providing a potential market to the dangerous Middle East-Asian narcotic drugs.

While other countries that have had narcotics on their market are fairly rich, Africans are still poor with very many developmental problems that we cannot afford to add that of drug addicts.

What makes matters worse is the fact that those who involve in drugs are the dependable group that the continent badly needs for its development.

When we are still trying to recover from the loss caused by centuries of slave trade, we are faced with the HIV scourge and cannot afford another loss of our young generation to drugs.

This is a battle that we must ensure its success.

However, this will not be possible if individual countries were to tackle the problem by themselves.

Joint efforts will save the situation if all countries can ensure that the drugs are denied entry and transit through their territories.

Great to read about the meeting about the same that was held in Bujumbura and Guinea-Bissau’s to tackle the problem.

Hope all countries will pick a leaf from this and have a drug free continent and generation.
