Nigerian Opposition rejects government appointments

Nigeria’s opposition Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party has slammed a move to appoint its members to key government positions.Party spokesperson Lai Mohammed on Wednesday said his party opposed the appointment of Nuhu Ribadu, its former presidential candidate in the 2011 general elections, or any other ACN member to government posts. The government announced Tuesday that Ribadu, a former chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission, had been appointed head of the Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force.The task force will work with consultants and experts to determine and verify all petroleum upstream and downstream revenues due and payable to the federal government.
