Police went top after Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Isonga and with the return of their star striker Meddie Kagere; the law enforcers will fancy their chances against Ernie Brandts’ side.

By their standards, APR have had an ordinary season so far. The twelve-time champions, who will face Kenya’s Tusker in the first round of the orange Champions League, have drawn three and lost one of their eleven matches.

Police have had a similar run losing one and drawing three of their eleven games. Their only loss came last month against Rayon Sport (3-1).

Despite the return of Kagere, Police head coach Goran Kopunovic, who watched Wednesday’s match from the stands after being slapped with a one-match ban for improper conduct, will miss the services of Abouba Uwimana (defender) and Jacques Tuyisenge (striker).

The pair is suspended and the Serbian concedes that his side faces an even tougher task. "They are key players in the team and will be dearly missed,” he said.

"But we still have to try and win this game. It’s very important that we finish the first round on top because it will give us the momentum we need in the second round”

At Umuganda Stadium, Kiyovu will look to close in at the top of the league table when they face Etincelles. The green baggies are three points off the pace. On the other hand, a win for Etincelles will leave the Western Province side on level points with Kiyovu but above the latter because of a better goal difference.
