Sudanese President Omar al- Bashir declared Wednesday an amnesty for members of Darfur Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), which signed with Khartoum the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).
Sudanese President Omar al- Bashir declared Wednesday an amnesty for members of Darfur Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), which signed with Khartoum the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD)."Today I declare amnesty for all the imprisoned and convicted members of the Liberation and Justice Movement,” said al-Bashir when addressing a rally in El Fasher, capital of North Darfur State. Al-Bashir and Chadian President Idriss Deby Itno on Wednesday arrived in El Fasher to launch the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority (TDRA), which was established in accordance with the DDPD.He urged the Darfur armed movements rejecting the DDPD to join the peace march, saying that "we renew the call for whoever is carrying arms to join the peace march to end the suffering of Darfur people.”
