A controversial anti-gay bill which includes death penalty for some homosexual acts was on Tuesday tabled before the country’s Parliament despite intense foreign pressure on government to drop the bill.

A controversial anti-gay bill which includes death penalty for some homosexual acts was on Tuesday tabled before the country’s Parliament despite intense foreign pressure on government to drop the bill.The legislators chanted "our bill our bill” slogans as David Bahati, the member of parliament behind the bill read it before the house. Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga referred the bill title ‘ Anti Homosexuality Bill’ to the legal and parliamentary affairs committee. "Honorable members the bill has been committed to the relevant committee for expeditious scrutiny and return to the House,” Kadaga said.
