"One of the most disheartening things in life,” Diane (not real name) says, "is being raped by someone you actually have feelings for or ultimately trust as a dear friend.”In Tyler Perry’s movie, "For colored Girls”, African-American actress, Rose Anika Noni, plays a girl who falls for Mr. Charming and innocently invites him to her house for dinner but instead gets violently raped. In the movie, Anika Noni did not even have the strength to fight her attacker and was left lying on the floor of her own apartment.  Some women are powerless to fight off an attacker and do not have the heart to seek vengeance either. They just sit there and suffer in silence, baring the pain and hate, sometimes even contemplating suicide. Unlike the movie scenario, most date rapes involve victims being lured into drinking or have the infamous date rape drug slipped unknowingly into their drinks. Some of these women are sadly out with men they trust and believe are not capable of such a thing. It probably never even crosses their minds. Diane says that she was drugged with an intoxicant product which was possibly slipped into her drink while she was in the bathroom. "The only thing I remember is feeling so weak and struggling to push him away as he came closer to me. He did not use any protection. I knew what was going on but I was powerless to stop it,” she says. She only called authorities after she was briefly hospitalized and the culprit was charged.Though drugging is seriously punishable by law, rapists frequently use it to trap unsuspecting girls, who do not watch out for their drinks. Some ordeals even turn fatal because of drug reactions, coupled with assault, and the exposure to HIV/AIDS.And much as mistrusting a friend would sound a bit ridiculous, girls who are cautious rarely have to worry about rape, because they don’t visit strangers, they don’t accept drinks, and they watch out for any shady moves when with a guy, unless they are in an open and caring relationship.
