Primus LeaguePolice vs IsongaPOLICE will go top of the Primus league chart for the first time this season if they beat Isonga this afternoon at Kigali Regional Stadium. After picking up 21 points in 10 matches, the law enforcers are three points behind defending champions and league leaders APR but victory takes them top on goal difference. However, without their star striker Meddie Kagere and Serbian coach Goran Kopunovic, Police face an uphill task.Kagere is suspended after accumulating two successive yellow cards while Kopunovic is serving a touchline ban after being found guilty of improper conduct at a Ferwafa hearing. In a pre-match interview, the Serbian conceded that they have to be ready for a tough game."Isonga are a team on the rise. They have played well even though results have not gone their way at times but Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Rayon is living proof that they are good enough to beat anyone in the league,” he noted."So we have to be on top of our game and keep them under pressure.”Eric Nshimiyimana (Isonga head coach) also has to find formidable replacements for the suspended pair of Emery Bayisenge and Francois Hakizimana. The youthful side has picked up five points in their last three matches; a 1-all draw against Kiyovu, a 2-all draw against Etincelles and the famous 3-1 victory over the blues. This year’s league is turning out to be very competitive with just six points separating the top six sides. After this weekend’s matches, the league will go on hold to allow Amavubi prepare for the first leg of the 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria. The match is slated for February 29 at Amahoro Stadium. The return leg is planned for June in Nigeria.
