Rotarians call for environmental protection

Members of the Rotary Club Kigali have urged the local population  and other stakeholders to strive for the protection and promotion of the environment in the country.

Members of the Rotary Club Kigali have urged the local population  and other stakeholders to strive for the protection and promotion of the environment in the country.They made the call over the weekend during their visit to Muhura Sector, Gatsibo District.In an interview with The New Times, Giancarlo Davite, who led the delegation of over ten members of the club, said that last year they donated over US$20,000, which was used in planting 200,000 trees in various areas in Muhura."I encourage all citizens of this nation to take the lead in tree planting in their respective work and residential areas because it’s one way of effectively and efficiently protecting the environment,” Davite said.He added that Rotary club will maintain close cooperation with their counterparts in Europe to raise more funds for various developmental projects in the country.
