The New Times, Rwanda’s only English daily newspaper, has unveiled a new web face which has more state of the art features that are both interactive and attractive to readers.Unlike the previous one, the new design offers readers a platform to submit comments on published stories as well as a chance to view and listen to video and audio broadcasts.It is also connected to social multimedia sharing networks such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.This means that the paper can be accessed online by opening the usual website (www.newtimes.co.rw) or any of the mentioned social networks.Jean Pierre Twizeyimana, the newspaper’s Production Manager, yesterday said the new website has a number of dynamics, including provision for more advertising space vertically and horizontally."It is now possible to access all the information on the home page, including past publications,” he said.Twizeyimana revealed that more modernisation work on the site is underway to not only give the website a good look, but also enhance security.Meanwhile, the new web face has attracted mixed reactions amonge readers.Sam Rutagengwa, an RDF soldier on peace a keeping mission in Darfur, Sudan, praised the new website saying it has many new features that provide a wide range of information."It is amazing that one can read a story and be able to access other related stories that were published before,” Rutagengwa noted.Denise Rwakayija, who works with MTN Rwanda, advised that the new webface should bear auto adjustments where every reader can adjust the size of the words."I have noticed that scripts on the website have a relatively small font. Depending on one’s visual status, readers should be able to automatically adjust it accordingly,” she said.On a more positive note, Twizeyimana urged the public to continue forwarding any suggestions to enhance the publication even more.
