Musanze residents Tuesday renewed their commitment to ensuring self-sustenance in terms of food production during the commemoration of the National Heroes’ Day.
Hon. Theresa Murekatete, who joined the residents of Mata village, Kabilizi Cell, for the celebrations, challenged parents to respect children’s rights and instill values of integrity, selflessness and patriotism among the younger generation.
"Couples should complement each other in the upbringing of children. If you fail to impart discipline among children, they will engage in drugs, girls will get early pregnancies and we shall have high rates of school dropouts,” Murekatete warned.
Residents took the opportunity to reflect on their achievements and discussed the value of self respect."We pay tribute to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives in liberating this country. We are now a united people with one vision; the fallen heroes set a good example of patriotism and desire for oneness,” said Rusine Felecien, the Executive Secretary of Mata Village.
