RWANDA’s top ranked player Jean Claude Gasigwa won the inaugural Heroes Day tennis tournament which wound up on Wednesday at Amahoro stadium courts.Gasigwa beat off club mate Moubaraka Harerimana in straight sets 6-3 6-2 to lift the first edition of Heroes tournament title.
In the women category, Gisèle Umumararungu ousted Megan Ingabire in staright sets 6-3 6-2.
In the men’s doubles, veteran pair of Brigadier General Jean Bosco Kazura and Jean Pierre Karabaranga was beaten by Fidèle Bayama Kamanzi, who paired with Jancy Karanguza in three sets 3-6 6-3 5-7.
The tournament, which was sponsored by EWSA, Sports View and Heineken, attracted players from Cercle Sportif de Kigali, Kanombe, APR, Nyarutarama and Remera.
