National cricket team in hunt for new coach

THE National Cricket Association (RCA) is looking for a new coach after failing to agree personal terms with former Ugandan international cricketer Joshua Mwanja.RCA President Charles Haba said the association had written to the National Olympic Committee soliciting for financial help to get an ‘ECB qualified coach or a cricketer with a proven playing record at club or county level’.

THE National Cricket Association (RCA) is looking for a new coach after failing to agree personal terms with former Ugandan international cricketer Joshua Mwanja.RCA President Charles Haba said the association had written to the National Olympic Committee soliciting for financial help to get an ‘ECB qualified coach or a cricketer with a proven playing record at club or county level’.

The coach will be given a short-term renewable contract (three months) to prepare the senior national team ahead of April’s ICC/ACA Africa Division 3 Twenty20 tournament in South Africa.

Besides Rwanda, the other participating teams include Gambia, Lesotho, Mali, Cameroon, Seychelles, Malawi and St. Helena.

The winner will be promoted to Division 2 which also comes with increased funding from the International cricket council (ICC).
