Rwamagana Police have taken into custody a woman for strangling her only child as demanded by her spouse.Christine Mutuyimana, 34, admitted to killing one and half-year-old child only identified as Irakoze.The suspect was arrested alongside her husband, Nshimiyimana Ngarambe, 29.The girl’s body was recovered from Tanda swamp along Lake Muhazi about two days after the child went missing.According to Karoli Tuyisenge, a neighbour of the couple, the two left home with the child only to appear alone later."The couple had only stayed with each other for one year...it seems the man never wanted to live with the child. The couple left with the child, but we became suspicious when they never came back with her,” he narrated."We alerted the police who later unearthed the whole criminal agenda of the couple. When we asked them about the child, they said the she died of sudden illness...we were not satisfied and reported the matter”.
