Editor,
I have keenly been following stories about the country’s investments. In 2010, Rwanda secured about US US$398 million worth of foreign direct investments which shot up to US $ 626 million in 2011, registering an enormous increase of 57.2 percent. The figure exceeded the target of US $ 550 set up by Rwanda Development Board. Against this backdrop, RDB anticipates that in the year 2012, FDI will be in the region of US $ 800 million.
I believe this healthy growth, as explained by Rwanda Development Board in the past is due to among other things the new strategy adopted in the year 2011.
Unlike in previous years, when the role of attracting investments was the function of just one department, in the year just gone by, every department in RDB played their part in attracting investments pertaining to their work. This broad based investment strategy has facilitated the entire process which has intimately paid off. If this is well maintained, the sky will be the limit.
