Editor,

I am a staunch Madrid fan and so saddened to always watch Barcelona and Messi tear us apart every time we meet. Even with great players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Kaka and Ozil, Madrid seems to lack the perfect formula to sting Barcelona.

At this rate, even with five points at the top of the table, it is not guarantee that Madrid are favorites for the La Liga trophy because they still have to travel to the Camp Nou.

For all his qualities as a winner, Jose Mourinho has failed to make his star-studded team outcompete The Catalans. It is so bad that even in the return leg, it was not until Barca had bagged two goals and relaxed that Madrid surprisingly equalized.

Had it turned out that Barca needed a win, I’m more than certain that the story would have been different. Real Madrid needs a coach who likes to play "football” as they call it. Someone who knows the way Madrid used to play and then use that philosophy to compliment the vast talent at the club.

Mourinho’s style is about defensive tactics like he did at Inter Milan, using physical players who literally force goals in, like his favorite Didier Drogba at Chelsea FC. This style is not suitable for Madrid and the earlier the bosses realize that, the better for the team.
