GHANA may have struggled to see-off Botswana in their opening Group D match but Amavubi coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic remains convinced they are favourites to win this year’s African Nations Cup.

The Black stars, who have won the show piece four times and reached the 2010 final, boast of an array of stars, ranging from captain John Mensah, to Asamoah Gyan, and Dede Ayew, among others.

While singling out Ivory Coast as serious contenders for the 28th edition, Micho has put his money on Ghana.

"It is going to be a very competitive and unpredictable tournament. Who would have fancied Zambia or Equatorial Guinea to beat Senegal?” he wondered.

"But I think Ghana have got enough firepower to win it. They have an excellent blend of youth and experience, putting them in a good position to deal with any situation.”

After steering Rwanda into the group stage of the 2014 Fifa World Cup and the final of the 2011 Cecafa Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam, Micho faces another daunting task when Amavubi take on Nigeria in the first leg of the 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifier next month in Kigali.

The Super Eagles have been in camp since December and have played a number of friendlies as part of their build-up to the first leg.
