Cricketers off to South Africa

A 16-man national cricket team left for South Africa yesterday afternoon aboard Kenya Airways to take part in the 2008 ICC World Cricket League/ ICC World Cup Qualifiers set for April 13-18 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Only five changes were made from the team that took part in last year’s edition which was also held in South Africa.

A 16-man national cricket team left for South Africa yesterday afternoon aboard Kenya Airways to take part in the 2008 ICC World Cricket League/ ICC World Cup Qualifiers set for April 13-18 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Only five changes were made from the team that took part in last year’s edition which was also held in South Africa.

The new faces on the 14-man team include Evode Mutuyimana (bowler), Subashish Samary (batsman) and three all-rounders; Ramsy Simba, Hamza Nkuutu and Joseph Tuyishimire.

Rwanda is drawn in the toughest group alongside 2006 finalists Sierra Leone, Malawi and Lesotho.

Team: André Kayitera, Eric Dusabemungu, Srinath Vardhineni, Eric Dusingizimana, Emma Byiringiro, Julius Mbaraga, Mehboob Jasat, Dennis Mukama, Evode Mutuyimana, Subashish Samary, Mohammad Jasat, Joseph Tuyishimire, Hamza Nkuutu and Ramsy Simba.
