Kiyovu vs Isonga (Kigali Regional stadium)

KIYOVU will fancy their chances when they take on Primus league debutants Isonga this afternoon at Kigali Regional Stadium.

The green baggies are beaming with confidence after ending Mukura’s five-match winning streak with a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

The win moved them into fourth place with 20 points; four adrift of defending champions APR. On the other hand, Mukura dropped into second place with 23 points while Police held onto third spot after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Marine.

In the build-up to today’s game, Kiyovu head coach Jean Baptista Kayiranga said that the team was ready to put together a good run.

"Not many expected us to win over the weekend but we proved them wrong and we want to keep doing that,” the former Rayon Sport coach said.

Kiyovu are hunting for their first league title since 1993.

Isonga, who are still struggling to find their feet in the top flight, desperately need a win. The youthful side suffered a 2-1 defeat against APR in their last league fixture and need to put in a big performance today to stand a chance of winning let alone grinding out a point.

With five points from five matches, Isonga find themselves at the foot of the table. Nyanza, Espoir and AS Kigali are level on six points.
