Towards the end of last year, I got a very interesting mail from one of my female readers. This young lady was looking for ways to have her man stay more at home than spending most of his free time in bars, so I suggested a man cave and she was over the moon with this idea.
Towards the end of last year, I got a very interesting mail from one of my female readers. This young lady was looking for ways to have her man stay more at home than spending most of his free time in bars, so I suggested a man cave and she was over the moon with this idea.
To begin with, a man cave is usually a room in the house where the woman of the house designs to accommodate her man and keep him grounded when need be. This room is strictly designed in men colours and has all those things that men love in terms of entertainment and relaxation.
When decorating the man cave; the first step is to pick a room in the house. Take everything out of the room before you begin decorating the man cave, so you can create a new space, focusing on the man who is going to use it. If there are items that he particularly likes, gather them together and keep them nearby so that they can go back in the room later and incorporate them in the décor.
Then work towards choosing the paint. Men usually gravitate towards blues, greens and reds. Blue is a calming colour. Green is associated with the environment, nature and wealth. Red evokes intensity and power. One should make a decision on the type of the mood they want to create in the man cave-then go with colours that suggests the same. When it comes to the fabrics to be used in the man cave, herringbone patterns, tweeds and plaids are best suited for this room.
Before anything else is taken in the new man cave, you have to work around the interest of your man. Is he a fan of sports? Does he like staying indoors during his past time or he is outgoing? Answering these and other questions will give you a sense of what feel the room should have. Once you have come up with your answers about his liking, decide to go with a theme based on hobby or sport of his liking. For example if he loves playing basketball, hanging NBA memorabilia to remind him of his love for the sport can be a good start.
Then think about the function of the room and what it will be used for. Some of these rooms can be a multi purpose with everything that a man needs like a library, an office space and maybe even music space. In this case enough space for books, the office desk and even the music systems will be needed.
Another feature in the man cave is the TV. Most men love going out to watch football matches in clubs or bars, but if you decorate your man’s cave with a plasma TV where he can watch all his games at the confines of his home, then you are sure to have him come home on time everyday and you will have nothing to worry about!
For men who love playing pool, the man cave can be an ideal place to have a pool table where the man can invite his friends over the weekend for a pool game, instead of having him go to bars everyday because he has to play pool. Other games like chess, snooker or flip board machine can also be ideal in the man caves.
Not every man drinks, but a small bar in the man cave can serve the purpose when he gets his friends come over the weekend for a ball game. Creating a man cave for your man can save your relationship and resources and a guarantee to spending quality time together. Ladies if you want peace of mind, make space for a man cave in your house!
