DRC’s Goma Bulls and PJB together with Muzinga from Burundi have confirmed participation in this year’s Gisembe Memorial tournament to tally of ten teams.
The three-day tournament gets underway this afternoon with APR, Espoir, KBC, Muzinga, Goma Bulls and CSK squaring off in the men’s category at Amahoro indoor stadium.
National University of Rwanda (NUR), APR and PJB Elite will contest for the ladies’ title.
The tournament which has been bankrolled by Cine Mai and the Sports Ministry is held in memory of former Espoir player Emmanuel Ntarugera Gisembi - one of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
Meanwhile, the league is penciled to start next month. KBC defended their crown last season but will face a stiffer challenge from APR who are chasing for the signature of Ugandan international Eric Malinga.
