The one-day event is one of five curtain-raisers for this year’s league and Joseph Bugabo, a veteran player for Buffaloes is adamant his team remain slight favorites.
"Teams like Sharks, Grizzlies, Lion de fer have bolstered their squads and should be in better shape to challenge Buffaloes,” he said, adding, "But I think we have prepared well and want to win all trophies on offer this season.”
The other 7s tournaments in the pipeline include Rugby Federation 7s, Sharks 7s, Lion de Fer 7s and the Muhanga 7s.
Meanwhile, the rugby federation and MTN have opened talks about a possible sponsorship deal for the league.
