VERONICA Iriho and Sonia Uwimana have been selected to take part in a five –day training clinic in South Africa.
The pair was chosen following a promising display in last year’s ICC/ACA Eastern and Southern Africa U-19 Girls Cricket tournament in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
"It is another opportunity for our cricketers to get top-level training and also test themselves against the very best on the continent,” Rwanda Cricket Association Secretary General Emmanuel Byiringiro said.
"One of our objectives this year is to develop women cricket in the country and we hope that these two cricketers will share their experience with the rest of the team.” The clinic starts February 11.
Meanwhile, the senior national men’s cricket team started training on Saturday ahead of the ICC/ACA Africa Division 3 Twenty20 tournament in South Africa.
The five-day tournament which is slated for the last week of April will attract countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Malawi and Sierra Leone.
The 22-man provisional team will be slashed down to 17 at the end of March. The final squad will have 15 players.
