GATSIBO – A man identified as Theodomir Ngendahayo, was yesterday arrested in Gatsibo in connection with the cold blooded murder of his parents Sunday night.The suspect has confessed to committing the crime, according to Police spokesman, Supt. Theos Badege.His accomplice, only identified as Majyambere, was still at large by press time, he added.Grief engulfed residents of Mataba Village, Nyagitabire Cell, in Nyagihanga Sector of Gatsibo District yesterday morning, after the bodies of the couple were found lying near their home.Police identified the couple as Jean Pierre Nzabanita, 58, and his wife Astelia Mukankwaya, also 58.When The New Times visited the scene yesterday afternoon, residents were still in shock over the brutal murder."It is a tragedy! This is unbelievable…it is horrible to see a human being doing such a brutal act to fellow human beings,” a neighbour to the deceased lamented."We are very shocked. I woke up early this morning and heard neighbours screaming. When I rushed to find out, I almost run mad when I saw the bodies of the late Nzabanita and his wife lying in a pool blood. They were beheaded and the wife’s breasts cut off. It is a trying moment for our village,” bemoaned Fulgence Ngendahimana, a resident.Supt. Badege said preliminary investigations indicated the murders were instigated by a family feud."We call upon residents to always accept justice to prevail and accept to solve conflicts through peaceful mediation.”
