Southern Province giants Mukura extended their hunt for this season’s Primus league title after a deserved victory over visitors Espoir in Huye yesterday.

Mukura beat the relegation battling club Espoir 2-1. Goals were scored by Eric Nizigiyimana and Patrice Uwimana. The victory extended Mukura’s leadership at the helm of PNFL standings with 23 points in ten matches played this season while Espoir is left battling in the relegation zone with 3 points.

Defending champion thrashed La Jeunesse 3-1 at Mumena stadium. Olivier Karekezi scored from a penalty after 30 minutes ahead of Kassim Habyarimana who equalised with a stunning header twenty minutes later. Burundian international Faty Papy snatched APR’s second goal on 60th minute through a header taken from Jean Claude Iranzi’s corner.

Kabange Twite made it three for the military side after connecting a brilliant set-piece from Pappy on 78th minute.

APR remains on third position despite being tied on 18 points with Police who play their fixture this afternoon.

Elsewhere, SC Kiyovu managed a 2-0 victory away from home. They beat hosts Marines with Julius Bakkabulindi and Djabir Mutarambirwa scoring brilliant goals.

Etincelles denied AS Kigali maximum points following a 1-all draw at Nyamirambo stadium while Nyanza beat Amagaju 2-1 in Nyamagabe.

This afternoon, a thrilling contest is on the cards when the blues entertain Police at Amahoro stadium. Meddie Kagere, current top scorer with seven goals is returning back for Police after after being linked with a move to Ethiopia’s St. George is expected to feature for Police FC.
