APR coach Ernie Brandts yesterday vowed to select a strong side for today’s Peace Cup first round clash against Isonga FC at Kigali Regional Stadium.

The Dutchman said, "We have a big squad so some of my string players will get some playing time tomorrow (today) but make no mistake, it will be strong side.”

"We cannot afford to underestimate Isonga because they are a good side and look to have found the right momentum,” he added.

APR claimed their sixth Peace Cup title last year after outscoring Police 4-2 in what was a thrilling contest.

The army side will however be without the quartet of Jean Claude Ndoli (goalkeeper), Jean Baptista Mugiraneza, Didier Logba and Ismail Nshutiyamagara.

Isonga on the other hand will fancy their chances after ending a three-match winless run with a 1-0 victory over Nyanza on Wednesday.

The side’s head coach Richard Tardy has now challenged his players to play for a win.

"We have no major injuries in the team and hope to build on Wednesday’s win tomorrow (today).”

In some of the other games, last year’s finalists Police entertain Espoir at Kamena while Rayon Sport play away to Musanze in Rubavu. SC Kiyovu entertains Intare.

Yesterday, Interforce progressed to the second round after beating Stella Maris on penalties (5-4). The sides had battled to a 2-all draw in normal time.
