Two weeks ago my Christmas gift from my elder sister was a beautiful flapper dress that I really liked. Thanks to fashion evolution, flapper dresses have made a big come back this season than they did back in 2008.

The flapper dress was first designed in the 1920fs.  As they still appear, these dresses are typically loose-fitting dresses with embellishments, fringing and beading that the 1920Œs fashion is romanticised for.

The flapper dress is unquestionably one of the staples of the 1920s revolution in women's fashion, which of course reflected a deeper change in mentality and attitude towards life in general. The modern-day flapper dresses are straight and loose and can very well be combined with the equally fashionable ruffles and frills trend for maximum impact. A flapper dress that reaches down to your knees and is tiered from the waist down is a perfect hybrid of femininity and is also functional when a woman wants to let loose.

The flapper dress is back in fashion for several reasons. First, it is loose fitting, feminine and simple- that is why many women who are fond of fashionable clothes love it. Then, it can be paired up with any number of this season's must-have accessories, such as kitten pumps or sandals, bolero jackets, caplets or leather jackets; and it is also incredibly versatile and suitable for almost any type of figure.

A few years ago Kate Moss was spotted at the Glastonbury music festival wearing her flapper dress in style. Katefs dress was so glamorous that it was dripping with 60,000 Swarovski Crystal beads and took over 200 hours to hand embroider, talk of haute couture! Not long after Mossfs appearance, Carrie Underwood also wore a flapper-esque dress on the red carpet, after these two event fashion designers took note and flapper dresses were seen on the catwalks come the following season.

Last year saw many celebrities in flapper dresses. In fact during the LACMA Art and Film Gala, three celebrities- Zoe Saldana, Camilla Belle and Evan Rachel Wood were all spotted in the same function spotting almost the same design of flapper dresses by Gucci.

Flapper dresses are always changing by the new designs that we always see on the catwalks in the fashion weeks. The flapper dresses that we now see are extremely fashionable, with sequins, beading, and fringing. For those who want to style it up even more, can pair it up with cropped leather jackets and a wide belt for a modern edge; When accessorising depending with onef taste it can be worn with multi coloured layered beads, chunky gold accessories or chunky wooden accessories and a pair of wedges or kitten sandals.

The flapper dress is sultry and sophisticated; and since it is a flirty dress it is best worn on red carpet events and parties. If you are looking for a new party dress to update your wardrobe, a flapper dress is the way to go, if Heidi Klum who has three children and another on the way can wear her flapper dress in style-so should you !
