Rwanda's ruling party RPF-Inkotanyi has released a list of the new party commissioners who were elected by the party’s National Congress that met earlier this month, on April 2.
These will serve in the party's National Executive Committee, which is headed by President Paul Kagame as the Chairman, Consolee Uwimana as the Vice-Chairwoman, and Wellars Gasamagera as the Secretary General. The three top leaders were also elected during the same event.
The commissioners were drawn from two groups; the general commissioners elected through a direct vote and those who came from the grassroots structures of the party’s youth league. The former contributed 15 members while the latter is represented by 10.
They will serve in 16 commissions of the party which are: political mass mobilisation, information, human capital development, planning and resource mobilisation, justice, human rights and the fight against genocide and its effects.
Others are security, discipline, land and environment, civil society, youth development, women development, culture, agriculture and rural development, social affairs and labour, foreign relations, and ICT.
At least eight of the commissioners were reelected, while others are new faces.
The committee, which is responsible for the day-to-day management of the party activities, will serve a five-year term.
