Speaking during an exclusive interview with The New Times on Friday, a group of women in a tailoring association said they have made tremendous strides in developing themselves.
"We had a lot of projects in the pipeline but we were blessed with ADPR (Pentecostal churches) that trained us in modern tailoring techniques. With this experience, we have formed cooperatives that will drive us to greater levels,” said Emeline Mukayuhi, one of the cooperative members.
"I am optimistic that our projects will deliver good results that will transform our lives and contribute to the district’s development.”
Gaudence Uwingeneye, another cooperative member, said that apart from tailoring, she intends to acquire skills in project formulation.
"There are many more opportunities outside tailoring. I intend to take advantage of them to extend my business, beginning with the New Year” she said.
Pastor Jean Bosco Sibomana of ADPR Byumba, pledged to give the women modern tailoring machines to ease their work.
Claude Ndayisenga, Ngarama, the sector executive secretary, commended the women for creating their own jobs.
