Amavubi Stars head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has lined three friendly matches, two against local select sides and one international as the national team continues its preparations for the crucial 2013 Nations’ Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
According to Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Michel Gasigwa, Amavubi will play two matches against select teams made up of foreign players playing in the Primus National Football League this Wednesday and again a week later.
He however, stressed that the Football Association is still waiting for confirmation from the clubs that they have written to asking for the release of the players.
"The coach requested us to secure two friendlies against foreign players that play in the Primus league. We have written to the clubs requesting them to avail their players, but until we haven’t got any confirmation from them,” the former CAF licensed referee, who assumed the job after the resignation of long serving Jules Kalisa said.
After the two matches against local select sides, Amavubi are scheduled to play one international friendly, but the opposition is yet to be confirmed, before taking on Nigeria on February 29.
Nigeria continues preps
Meanwhile, Stephen Keshi who lost out to Micho for the Amavubi job but later got one to handle his country’s national team, has continued to take his players through drills.
The Nigerian coach recently told local media that he will use more local players for the Amavubi tie, sending warning signals to the under performing European based stars.
