The national cricket team captain has advised his teammates to go back to the drawing board after a scrappy performance in yesterday’s one day game against the Uganda U-19 side.

Srinath Vardhineni was a witness as the Ugandans destroyed his team by a huge 194 runs. Batting first, Uganda posted 233 runs, thanks to tail-enders Daniel Batuwa and John Tumusime who put on 97 runs.

Soon after, Ronald Ssemanda, one of the most experienced players in the Ugandan side swayed through Rwanda’s batting order to finish off with seven wickets for a paltry 14 runs. Dennis Mukama was Rwanda’s top scorer with 5 runs. At the end of the day, Ssemanda and Batuwa shared the man of the match prize courtesy of MFI.

After the game, Vardhineni conceded that Rwanda had been sloppy with their bowling, batting and in the fielding as well. "This should serve as a lesson to the entire team because we played so poorly. Our bowling, batting and fielding were all below par and we need to sort things out before the ICC tournament," Srinath advised.
