is downplaying his team’s title aspirations.
The Huye based side currently top the Primus league log with 20 points, two above Police and five better
than champions APR, albeit having played a game more than the chasing pack.
Okoko, who is currently in his home country of Burundi for the festival period told Times Sport by phone
that their major focus is not the league title that the club last won 19 years ago.
"We are concentrating on each game as it comes along, at the moment our focus is not the Primus league
title but winning the next game,” said the former Burundian international, who has a three year contract.
In nine games, Mukura has won 6, drawn 2 and lost one. The Huye club, one of the oldest in the league, is
the only team to inflict a defeat to champions APR.
Part of the club’s resurgence has been attributed to the club’s new president Olivier Nizeyimana, the
proprietor of Volcanoes Transport Company.
The club’s financial woes are a thing of the past with the local tycoon, who is a diehard Barcelona fan and
usually goes to Nou camp to watch the European.
Only three clubs have won the national league since 1994 and they include APR (12), Rayon Sport (4) and
Atraco (1). Mukura will need to produce a very consistent performance to get a chance of winning the
league.
The Primus league is now on recess and will resume on January 14.
