Rayon Sports players go into today’s Caf Confederation Cup second leg tie with self belief high and ready for whatever El Merreikh throws at them at Nyamirambo stadium.

Head coach Raoul Shungu told Sunday Sport that his players are gunning to make history by overturning the 0-3 goal deficit from the first leg and reach the group stage of the continent’s second biggest club championship.

 "Everybody is wishing for a good result and with a big of good luck, we are confident about our chances of overturning the result from the first leg.

"We have had good training in the last coupe of days for this game and I believe any player who will take part in the game knows the task ahead but I know each of them is ready to make history,” Shungu said.

The Congolese coach however, declined to disclosed his team for the match but he hinted Kalisa Kase will lead the midfield with Jean Lomami doing the likewise in attack.

Former Kiyovu and APR Ugandan international defender Okello Shaka is expected to be slotted in for the suspended Aimable Rucogoza in central defence.

According to Shungu, Bokota, last season’s league top scorer is not on the team after he was dropped due to failure to attend the club’s training.

Rayon’s last continental show came in 2006 when the club was ejected in the second round by Egypt’s Al Ittihad Al-Iskandary by a 3-1 goal aggregate. The blues had earlier seen off Ethiopia’s Awassa City by a 4-0 goal aggregate.

Last year, Rayon sports missed out after finishing third in the Primus national football league giving chance to Atraco to make their maiden appearance in the continental championship.

El Merreikh arrived in the country on Wednesday and will be hot favourites to progress to the nest stage but Shungu and his troops will be having others idea when the first whistle goes.

Michael Kruger’s side with a 3-0 goal aggregate advantage will go into the game with little or nothing to lose, knowing even a draw is enough for them to advance; they can even afford to lose 2-0.
