KAMONYI- The National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) has handed over a poultry project, estimated at Rwf 15 million to Genocide widows in Musambira Sector. The project is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility and will be owned by 29 families of women who were affected by the Genocide living at the “village of peace”.

The project is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility and will be owned by 29 families of women who were affected by the Genocide living at the "village of peace”.
BNR Governor, Pierre Claver Gatate, who officiated at the handover, urged the beneficiaries to work towards self reliance.
"This support is a sign of the relationship between the bank and the widows. With this they will enable the community to save and become self sustainable by looking after their families and make a difference in the community” Gatete said.
He said that the project was a head start for prosperity for women in the village and community.
"This is hope for widows and we will be able to work hard to survive and earn a better living, and bring an end to dependency as it was in the past,” said Jacqueline Murekatete on behalf of the beneficiaries.
The Mayor of Kamonyi, Jacques Rutsinga, hailed the national bank for its community outreach programs and noted that the project will contribute to poverty alleviation in the district.
