Let’s start at the very beginning

SUNDAY SERMON - Many people go through life observing other people’s achievements. They see their farms, buildings, factories, homes and cars and they wonder how these things came into being. The normal conclusion is: "Some people are really lucky!”

Today I want to explode that myth that people are simply lucky and that is why they have possessions and wealth. Everything big started as something small. Nothing great is created suddenly; instead little by little.

Never decide to do nothing just because you consider what you have to be small. People who think that they are too big to do small things are perhaps too small to be asked to do big things.

Small opportunities are often the beginning of great entreprises. Within small things lie big opportunities; in fact small things make big differences. One of my frequent prayers is, "God, send small opportunities into my life because I know that if I am faithful in small things, bigger opportunities will open up to me.”

God says in Matthew 25:21 "You have been faithful in handling this small amount …so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Begin the joyous tasks I have assigned to you.”

You will never do great things if you can not do small things in a great way. If you are a keen observer you will notice that difficult things start with circumstances that are easy while great things start with things which are small.

My emphasis today is that you need to begin to do something about your life. Begin today with the small things in your hands. Begin right now by taking the small innocuous opportunities that lie in front of you.

One of the major differences between people who have momentum and those who do not is that those with momentum are growing by taking advantage of small opportunities.

Every time we look at what we want to do and see the word ‘impossible’ it should act as an incentive to try it. I have discovered that what we think is impossible to us is actually being done by somebody somewhere else. It only looks impossible to you because you have never tried it.

The courage to begin doing something is the same courage it takes to succeed. This is the same courage that separates achievers from dreamers.

I have come to realize that those who postpone action will sooner or later find themselves with more problems. Wasting time wastes your life.

I can confirm to you that if you travel on the road of ‘By and By’, you will soon arrive at the destination called ‘NEVER’.

A lazy person does not go through life, he is pushed through it. One philosopher once said, "A wise man does at once what the fool will do finally.”

Every time you say: "I will do such and such a thing someday,” I can assure you that you will not do it because "someday” is not a day of the week.

Procrastinators never have small problems because they wait until their problems become so big. I know you have been in situations where you see clearly that you could have won if you had only started.

That is the tragedy of life. I would like to advise you that you should now begin to do what you have always wanted to do so that the miracle you have been praying for can happen.

The first step to overcome procrastination is to eliminate all excuses for not taking action. To begin is the most important part of any endeavour. Worse than a quitter, is the person who would never begin.

90 per cent of those who succeed will tell you that just showing up and starting was the secret. You may be disappointed when you fail in what you have started, but you are doomed if you do not begin to do something.

Knowledge alone of where you want to go can never be a substitute for putting one foot in front of the other. Somebody said, "The first step is the hardest. That is why many people have failed in life. They do not get started, so they do not go”.

My prayer is that you will resolve to begin today what you have been postponing.
