Editor,
Informal cross-border trade has for long been ignored yet it contributes immensely to national development.
This trade has seen much of the agricultural surplus such as beans and maize sold in neigbouring countries, thus providing a source of living to thousands of traders.
However, if more efforts are geared towards value addition, improved quality of the exports and removal of trade barriers, there is no doubt that the country’s export receipts will go up.
Government’s plans to construct markets along the country’s borders offer logistical support that will go a long way in sustaining the economic growth.
