Solange Knowles, the younger sister of American superstar Beyonce Knowles, along with rocker Chris Taylor, are in the country to inaugurate a sanitation programme in Gahanga Sector, Kicukiro District  of Kigali city in collaboration with Coca-Cola. 

The American stars jetted into the country on December 18 and they are due to depart tomorrow.

Knowles and Taylor conducted a press conference yesterday, organised by Bralirwa Ltd, the country’s largest alcoholic and soft beverages manufacturer.

On the second day of her visit, Solange expressed her excitement to visit the "Land of a thousand hills on Twitter.

"Rwanda, Day 2, and loving it!” Solange tweeted on the second day in the country. "Can’t express how beautiful the people of Rwanda are”, her second tweet read.

Having stepped out of her big sister’s shadow to become a star in her own right, Solange is putting her celebrity status to good use.

She has partnered with singers Chris Taylor and Twin Shadow to record a new song dubbed "Kenya”, to benefit the Coca-Cola Africa Foundation’s Replenish Africa Initiative.

Coca-Cola Foundation’s flagship water programme, Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN), aims to provide sustainable, clean water sources, hygiene education and sanitation services to millions of people throughout Africa.

Funds raised from the single will help with clean water projects in Rwanda, Uganda and Cameroon.

Solange Piaget Knowles, born June 24, 1986, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, model, dancer, DJ and single mother.
