RUSIZI — The Minister of Gender and Family promotion, Jean d’Arc Mujawamariya has urged teachers in Rusizi district to always exhibit exemplary conduct in their daily activities.

"As serious and concerned teachers who are here, I urge you to always be active in the society because a good teacher should always rank number one in each and every activity that takes place; not only at his place of work but also in the entire community where he or she lives," Mujawamariya said.

The minister was on Wednesday addressing teachers attending solidarity training at Gihundwe Secondary School in Rusizi.

Mujawamariya advised teachers to stop despising themselves, and having inferiority complex, but rather have confidence in their duties in order to command respect in society.

She also asked them to be role-models in fighting poverty in the region and to desist from genocide ideology and other ethnic divisionism. She challenged the teachers to change people’s minds by encouraging them to work hard in order to develop and improve their livelihoods.

On family planning, the minister urged teachers to campaign for small manageable families among residents.

About 1874 teachers drawn from different schools are attending the three-week training at different centers in the district.
