Amavubi lines up two friendly matches

Sudan may be one of two friendly matches that Amavubi Stars may play as the team build up to the eagerly awaited 2013 African Nations’ qualifier against Nigeria scheduled for February 29, 2012 at Amahoro stadium.

According Ferwafa president Celestin Ntagungira, Sudan verbally requested for a friendly against Amavubi and that the federation is waiting for an official application from the Africa Nations Cup-bound team before setting up a date.

"The coach requested for two friendly matches before the first leg against Nigeria and we are still lining up suitable opposition. But Sudan requested a friendly informally, which we are waiting to be made official,” Ntagungira said.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have ruled out any build-up matches ahead of the February qualifier.

Nigerian coach Stephen Keshi, who lost out to Sredojevic ‘Micho’ Milutini as Amavubi coach has already named a 30-man team that has started training.

Micho recently said that he will ‘leave no stone unturned as he prepares for the Super Eagles clash’.

In nearly two months, the Serbian has been in charge of nine games, in which a he has won 7, drawn one and lost one. It is the best start for any Rwanda national football team coach in over 20 years.
