THE National women football league has been postponed for a third time due to lack of funds.
According to the Head of women football Felicite Rwemalika, the money used for the league comes from FIFA and it is expected in January, thus the postponement.
"The league does not have a sponsor so we depend on FIFA money which is yet to be sent,” Rwemalika said.
FIFA sends an annual sum of USD 250.000 (Rwf 148m) to the National Football Federation (Ferwafa) of which 15% is given for the women league.
Nine clubs including APR, Inyemera, Remera, Rubavu, Musanze, reigning champions AS Kigali, Bugesera, Les Lionness and the National University of Rwanda (NUR), are expected to take part in the six- month league.
Since its inception in 2008, AS Kigali has claimed three titles with APR lifting one.
