Rwanda vs Uganda select XI (50 overs)

The senior national cricket team will test itself against an experienced Ugandan select this weekend in preparation for the forthcoming ICC World Cricket League Division 3/ ICC World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa.

The two sides will face off in a Twenty20 match at the Kicukiro oval tomorrow before engaging in a 50-over game on Sunday.

Although Times Sport did not know much about the Uganda side by press time, the local cricket governing body (RCA) said that the side has players who have played for Uganda at the top level.

On top of preparing the Rwandan team for the ICC World Cricket League Division 3/ ICC World Cup Qualifiers, the games would also strengthen the cricket relationship between the two countries.

Being an associate member of the ICC, RCA believes that Rwanda can learn a lot from her neighbor that is on a higher level (ICC affiliate member).

"Uganda is up there on the ICC ranking and we can definitely benefit a lot from such games," RCA’s Charles Haba reckoned.

Meanwhile, Srinath Vardhineni has been retained as the national team captain and will be assisted by Dennis Mukama. In another development, RCA come under attack from the players who were dropped from the South Africa bound team. However, the chief selector Benjamin Manzi has kept his stand saying that RCA chose the best out of the pack. "Everybody on the team is there on merit," Manzi stressed.
