I was impressed with an article in yesterday’s issue of The New Times titled "Children urged to stand up for their rights,” which called for a sense of determination and vigilance among our children.

It is not the first time Rwandan children have been called on to fight for their rights, but it’s high time they rose to the occasion. It’s a shame that sometimes the abusers go unpunished, but once the victims learn to report such cases, the law will surely catch up with them.

It’s important that parents and teachers sensitize their children to always speak out whenever they are abused.
