"Fighting illicit drugs is among the resolutions that were taken during the recently concluded national security meeting. We shall soon deploy police at various porous borders to stem out illicit drugs entering the province,” she said.

The Regional Police Commander (RPC) of the Eastern Province, ACP Sam Karemera, said that within three months, Police will be deployed under the "Border Police” Programme.
He added that not only will police be in charge of the border, but they will also assist night patrols to maintain security.
