The president of the Rwanda Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA), Justus Kangwagye, has called upon members of the association to ensure better service delivery in local governments.

He made the call yesterday, during the associations’ 16th General Assembly meeting that brought together local leaders from cells to the district level.

"Enhanced service delivery is needed in your areas of administration because it contributes to the development of our country,” he told the leaders.

Kangwagye, who is also the Mayor of Rulindo District in the Northern Province, advised the leaders to interact with the people on regular basis for effective service delivery.

He stated that the association is registering tremendous progress adding that commitment from the members will take it to another level.

Kangwagye urged the leaders to embrace the use of Information Communication Technology services for quick and efficient services to the people.

Highlighting the association’s annual report 2010-2011, RALGA Secretary, Christine Niwemugeni, said that since August last year, the association had been faced with challenges of insufficient funds which affected implementation of planned activities.

She mentioned that there were still gaps in proactive communication among members of the association.
