RUSIZI-Police in Rusizi District are holding Claude Munyandatwa, 34, who had allegedly stolen a vehicle in
Rubavu.

Police recovered the vehicle Suzuki Grand Vitara two days after it was reported stolen.

Jean Berchimas Kamali, the owner of the recovered vehicle, had reportedly requested the suspect to find
companies that could hire his vehicle.

"We were at a bar when he took the car. I suspected he had stolen it and when I called him later, he
claimed that it had been stolen from him,” Kamali narrated.

Police chief in the district, Superintendent Johnson Ntaganda, said their investigations indicated that the
suspect wanted to take the vehicle to DRC or Burundi.

It’s the second time Munyandatwa is arrested for a similar offence, according to police records.

However, the suspect insisted he was trying to get business for the vehicle.

Police spokesman, Theos Badege, hailed the police for acting swiftly but also urged Rwandans to be more
cautious with their property; adding that people who want business for their vehicles should seek
registered companies.

"During the end of the year, theft and other crimes tend to increase. People should therefore work together
with the police to ensure their security and that of their property,” Badege said.
