There have been continuous reports of employers complaining about the quality of graduates from higher institutions of learning.

According to the Ministry of Education, additional effort is being made to improve the quality of education from all levels of educations, as well as ensuring that universities have the staff and facilities that will deliver quality education.

To get the best out of this effort, it is imperative that employers from both the private and public sector meet regularly with stake holders in the education sector to ensure that students receive training in line with the development as well as employment trends.

Additionally, institutions should dedicate resources to research. This is an important area that must be a priority if companies, as well as institutions are to remain competitive and relevant.

As improving the quality of education may take a while, students should, in the short term, be encouraged to take part in internships and apprenticeships.
