The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports and Culture Edward Kalisa yesterday revealed that a feasibility study will be carried out by the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Infrastructure to evaluate length and cost of the two projects.
"The two projects have a green light from the cabinet so what’s left is for the two ministries (Finance and Infrastructure) to do a feasibility study,” Kalisa said.
Construction of the new stadium is expected to take three years while renovation work at Amahoro stadium will be done in phases.
Huye and Muhanga stadiums will also be upgraded to 10,000 and 15,000 respectively.
Early this year, Rwanda won the race to host the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).
CHAN is a competition reserved for players featuring in their respective domestic leagues. The first edition was held in 2009 in Ivory Coast while Sudan staged this year's edition.
