I welcomed with delight the announcement that Rwanda had emerged as the fourth least corrupt country in Africa and 49th in the world in a global report on graft, released by anti- corruption watchdog, Transparency International.

I was not surprised with the ranking basing on the effectiveness of the zero tolerance to corruption policy. The 2011 Corruption Perception Index sees Rwanda join the club of ‘clean’ countries like Botswana, Cape Verde and Mauritius.

Rwanda already tops the region and I am certain the country is working very hard to improve even further.

The country’s zero tolerance to corruption has enabled it to transform its economy and improved the people’s standard of living.

As a member of the East African Community, Rwanda should share the best practices to ensure the block improves as one.
